Ingredients (serves 4):
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ cup tomato sauce or 2 tbsp tomato paste
- ¼ cup water
- 8 small taco shells (hard or soft)
Toppings (optional but recommended):
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Grated cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
- Sour cream
- Salsa or hot sauce
- Chopped onions or cilantro
- Sliced avocado or guacamole
Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned (about 5–6 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Add tomato sauce and water. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Warm taco shells according to package directions.
- Spoon beef mixture into taco shells and top with your favorite toppings.
