Classic Vanilla Panna Cotta

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 2 cups (500 ml) heavy cream
  • ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 packet (2¼ tsp) unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tbsp cold water
  • Fresh berries or berry sauce (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water. Let it bloom for 5–10 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the cream and sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves (do not boil).
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm cream mixture. Whisk until completely dissolved.
  5. Pour the mixture into 4 small ramekins or dessert glasses.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until set.
  7. To serve, unmold by dipping ramekins briefly in warm water and inverting onto plates.
  8. Top with fresh berries, berry sauce, or a drizzle of honey.
